crystal, ice, crank, glass or simply meth) can be extremely dangerous if taken in extended doses for recreational purposes. However, it should be noted that methamphetamine has been approved by
the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for treating individuals suffering from certain cases of ADHD, severe obesity and narcolepsy. Meth can be injected, smoked, snorted or taken as a suppository.
Much of the methamphetamine brought into this country historically came from drug cartels in Mexico and Central America but nowadays it is typically produced in illegal meth labs around the
nation. Many would agree that not a day goes by that the general public does not read about a meth lab bust somewhere across America. Often times, these raids occur
in low-income, rural areas where drug distribution and production is prevalent. Like any drug, methamphetamine can cause death by overdose but the more common reactions are loss of teeth due
to poor hygiene as well as teeth clenching while high on the drug, skin legions either due to obsessive picking or once again lack of hygiene, and an increased chance
of a sexually transmitted disease due to unclean needle sharing that is often associated with heavy drug use. This essay will analyze methamphetamine further while examining the addictive traits that
