and/or quantity of personalized attention they so drastically desire for their well-being. This is where mentoring comes in and the possibilities for changing lives is real.
Typically, mentoring programs are aimed at at-risk youths in order to stimulate and motivate achievement, success, education, etc. Without proper role models, these
youths would have no means of acquiring such skills. Studies have shown the astounding effects of mentoring, and how the lives of young people can be forever altered through
the youth being paired with a mentor who validates their existence. The impact of mentoring cannot be stressed enough, however, one
must first put together a viable mentoring program before the lives of youths can be affected. This isnt an easy task, and requires detailed knowledge which is vital to
consider before starting on any mentoring venture. Finally, it is important to review some examples of actual mentoring programs, in order that these examples will highlight the theory thus
discussed. By reviewing actual examples of mentoring programs, the impact of such programs becomes more clear and evident. What is Mentoring?
Mentoring is word which conjures up many images, and has become a word increasingly heard and used in modern vocabularies. Mentoring programs have been established at all
levels, ranging from students in elementary school all the way through professional levels where people learn from others in their career through a series of mentoring partnerships.
