states there is no single definition of mental health, the definition can be subjective and depend on a range of influences including culture and even professional theories on the way
that mental health is defined (World Health Organisation, 2001). If mental health can be defined with a single definition, a different approach may
be to argue that mental health is the absence of any mental illness or disorder. This means defining mental illness. Just as there is no single definition of mental health
there is no single definition mental illness, however there are more workable definitions which can be utilised. There is no single fully inclusive definition of mental illness. Slovenko (1989) argues
for a very broad ranging definition which states that mental illness is "substantial disorder of mood or thought which significantly impairs judgement, behaviour, capacity to recognise reality or ability
to cope with the ordinary demands of life" (Slovenko, 1989; 115). In the UK there is a legal definition laid down by
the Mental Health Act 1983 which states that a mental disorder is ""means mental illness, arrested or incomplete development of mind, psychopathic disorder and any other disorder or disability of
mind and " mentally disordered " shall be construed accordingly" (Lexis, 2007). However, even in this act mental illness is not defined, which has led to some poppers. In
