CORONARY HEART DISEASE Coronary heart disease (CHD) has rapidly become one of the most fatal of all health concerns; while both men and women suffer from the impact of CHD, the extent to which the male gender has succumbed to this particular disease is both significant and of great concern in relation to masculine-related lifestyle characteristics. Because men typically have a more stressful life than their female counterparts due to high-tension jobs, financial concerns and a lower inclination toward watching their diets, the medical community has presented alarming statistical findings that illustrates just how susceptible the male population has become to the fatal consequences of CHD, with the death rates per 100,000 people being 238.0 for white males and 262.4 for black males compared to 145.3 for white females and 187.5 for black females (AHA, 2004).
