basis for much tourism, as such the areas has the different features and resources needed to support a major festival. It
may be argued that Melbourne is an idea location, this city is the capital of Victoria, and has is the second largest city in Australia, its population of 4 million
places it only behind Sydney (ABS, 2011). This provides a potentially large audience already in situ, however, as a major city there are also very strong transportation links, key
in attracting visitors to the festival. For international and well as domestic travel there are four airports in Melbourne, the largest is
Melbourne Airport located at Tullamarine, and the second busiest Australian airport, this airport is also a major hub for two major airlines in the area; Qantas and Virgin Blue. There
is also an extensive public transportation network, including a network of buses, with nearly 300 different routes, in 2007 the bus network carried 86.7 million passengers (Anonymous, 2011). In addition
to the services, mobile also has the largest tram network, with 15 different lines, and 29 different routes, which are not only useful with transportation; they are also a heritage
and cultural aspect of the city (Anonymous, 2011). Rail networks connect Melbourne with the rest of Australia, as well as providing for local services; therefore, the transportation is suitable to
