paper examines and discusses two articles regarding news in Melbourne, Australia. Melbourne, Australia: News The first article to examine, discuss and assess comes from News.com.au. The article is titled
"Victim pleaded with kidnapper" and is dated September 1, 2006. In this article a man apparently took a woman in her car, hitting her and driving off with her. He
told her to take off her pants and she immediately started to plead with her attacker not to raper her, telling him, "Please dont. I was raped when I was
14 and if you do this to me I dont think Ill ever be able to get over it" (News.com.au, 2006). He continued driving and she told officials he had
a conversation on the phone with someone else and she believed they were discussing murdering her as her attacker replied to the person on the phone that he did not
have a shovel. In the end he left her, in her car, in Melbourne. This particular story tells the reader about the rapist, or the attacker, indicating that he was
up for many different criminal acts that stemmed from this one attack, the attack on the woman: "Chris Martin, 35, of Melbourne appeared before a committal hearing in the Melbourne
Magistrates Court today on 12 charges, including two counts of kidnapping, assault with intent to rape, and abducting someone for sexual penetration. He also was charged with two counts of
