existence as human beings. Perhaps most people, given the opportunity to go back in time, would choose to meet a famous individual for one reason or another. This paper, however,
chooses to meet with an ancestor of the writer for a variety of reasons. The person met with is, hypothetically, a Scottish woman named Ann who has just experienced the
bubonic plague, the Black Plague, having lost most of what she possessed. In meeting with this woman we can learn more about the inherent strength of the race of humans
and also learn something of where we, as individuals today in a modern world, came from. Ann Ann is 37 years old and was married with 6 children before
the plague hit. When met Ann had lost her husband and 5 of her children. With her was a young boy of 8 whose name was Earl. She was staying
at an inn where she was working to pay for food and board from the innkeeper. At this time in history there were a lot of people journeying, escaping, from
their homeland and essentially wandering from one place to another seeking a new place to live after the devastation. As such Ann was able to find work and hopefully a
future for herself and her son. If this writer were to engage in a conversation with Ann, this writers grandmother several times removed, much could be learned about the strength
of the woman in the face of devastation. She would likely be a very strong woman who was determined to live despite the pain and confusion of the Black Plague.
She lived in a time when people were essentially lost. An entire people had begun to lose their faith in religion because it did not protect them from the death
