Medoro is an ideal knight and this is particularly true as compared with other knights who express silly or unethical behavior. What makes Medoro an exemplary knight? First, it is
important to explore the nature of the exemplary knight. What makes for a good knight? Probably, the exemplary knight is chivalrous and excellent in the performance of his duties, but
likely, there is something more. There are probably intangible qualities associated with knighthood. Yet, it is difficult to define just what an exemplary knight is. In the context of a
different work, an exemplary knight was created to display characteristics of courage and skill1. Burke writes: "The phrase Buena maneras here refers not only to the sphere of what we
call good manners but to a wider domain, including that of love2." It may be shown in the context of Orlando Furioso that the love story between Angelica and
