a doctor, but because he worked so hard to make it possible for me to pursue a career in this field. My fathers role, my mothers health issues and
my own volunteer work have supported my hope of one day becoming a doctor. My family is originally from India. My
grandfather died when my father was just 10 years old, leaving a great gap in his life. Not only did my father lose the presence of a male mentor
in his life, but he also lost the economic support for his family. As a result, my father had to forego his education and enter the military to provide
fiscal support for his family, which included his mother and six siblings. My father worked hard all of his life because of his lack of formal education and hoped
for much more for his own children. My fathers work ethic alone would motivate anyone to study, but the fact that he worked so hard for his childrens education
provided an additional incentive. My father brought us to the United States for the sole purpose of our education. His efforts gave me the potential opportunity to study
at some of the best colleges and universities in the world. My brother and I are the only people in our family who could go to college, to have
the chance to study and possibly become medical professionals. My father provided us with the motivation, the money and the incentive for continued achievement in college.
My mothers experiences helped me understand the value of positive medical interventions and defined my path towards a medical degree. Whenever I struggled during
