has been going on as long as there has been any solid form of media, such as television. There are those who argue that violence and such have long been
a part of society and as such are not influencing children negatively as seen in the media. However, there are those who claim that television and other forms of media
are severely harming the children of the nation. The following paper examines this topic and argues that the media can have a very negative influence on children. Media
and its Influence on Children As noted, there are those who claim that the media is not incredibly harmful to children, especially if censored by the parents. Parents are encouraged
to constantly discuss what is seen in the media with children so that they understand what is going on and are not harmed by what they see. In many respects
this is very true. Parents need to know what their children are watching, what games they are playing and more than that Parents need to constantly talk about life and
realities with their children, to the degree the particular child can understand. It is the parents that lay the foundations of morals and social training and as such it is
true that if the parents do their part, in a very active way, the media can prove far less damaging. However, there is ultimately no way to avoid the media
and to always be present when a child is exposed to something. From one perspective it is recently noted that more and more children are obese and this is
posing a very serious problem in the nation. This is perhaps partly caused by the media which mesmerizes children into watching television, playing video games, for hours on end. And,
