has been condemned on more than one societal front. It affects our society in more ways than we sometimes care to acknowledge. Despite the disfavor the depiction of violence meets among some segments of society, however, the media seems intent on presenting more and more graphic detail in regard to violent acts in the news and other programming content. Television is one of the primary culprits but it is hardly the only one. Television, newspapers and even radio has become identified more with the depiction of violence than they have been by practically any other topic. One of the most pressing concerns of this growing media preoccupation with violence is it impact on our children. The thesis can be presented, in fact, that: "Media violence is an important contributor to aggressive behavior and there is clear evidence that exposure to it contributes to aggressive behavior in children and adolescent viewers" There is no doubting the fact that the media sometimes incites violence (DuRant, Champion and Wolfson, 2006). The media is in fact a catalyst for violent expression on more than one societal front (DuRant, Champion and Wolfson, 2006). Both adults and children are susceptible to the amount of violence they see or hear depicted in the media. No aspect of media, in fact, can be overlooked in regard to its role in depicting and even inciting violence. Each has an overwhelming potential for damage.
