It may be argued that this is a firm that is highly integrated, with the media segment and strategies forming a keystone in the overall entertainment strategy. The ownership patterns
seen in the way mergers and acquisitions have taken place and the development of owned asserts all indicate a clear underlying policy of related diversification where there is a high
level of synergy and the ability to benefit from a unified image that benefits a number of the owned divisions. Disney is divided into 4 segments, media networks, parks
and resorts, studio entertainment and consumer products. Popular Disney history beginnings with the use go the media, with the creation of Mortimer mouse, who was to become Mickey Mouse in
the first animation in 1928. Arguably this is still one of the most enduring images associated with the Disney empire, but it is the careful management and ownership of media
interests that has helps to proliferate Disney interests. The studios create programming and films that are generally distributed, but are also favoured in many of the Disney owner media networks.
It has been noted by theorists that argue there is a pull towards globalising in the realm of media ownership with a pull towards increasing interests (Haralambos and Holborn,
