Indeed, various forms of media regularly infuse the not-so-subtle factors associated with gratuitous violence to such an extent that viewers are no longer shocked by the bludgeoning death or decapitation of a fellow human being. Instead, this desensitization has served to encourage the public to engage in that much more violent aspects of contemporary media, not the least of which includes the overt violent depiction found in video games. In a society where violence takes center stage where media sources are concerned, one might readily surmise how children stand to be the greatest casualty. Bibliography lists 6 sources.

surmise how children stand to be the greatest casualty. Twenty years ago, the level of violence that exists today on American television would
have caused an uproar of eminent proportions. However, the world became a different place throughout the latter part of the twentieth century, in that such activity brought about by
media experience is more socially acceptable. In fact, it is often the case that the more violence and controversy surrounding a given television production, the more viewers it stands
to attract, particularly with regard to impressionable children and juveniles. The environmental and social problems caused by the influence television has upon youth
is both grand and far-reaching; that TV is used as a babysitter and teacher speaks to the inappropriate lessons children and adolescents alike are learning about living in a civilized
society. The fairly recent phenomenon of school-aged kids killing their classmates and teachers for nothing more than the thrill of the act has parents and administrators up in arms.
