for beginners. The experienced leader will not gain much from reading although he or she might be reminded of some effective leadership ideas. Much has been written about leadership since
1993. There are many lessons a beginner can learn from the text. His comments about integrity are especially important in todays world. There has been a very definite lack of
integrity in business for a very long time. A person of integrity follows the right path, one that if honest and virtuous. This is a person who has values and
sticks to them, no matter what. This is a good lesson for both beginners and experienced leaders today because too many are leading who lack integrity. The lesson is that
it isnt easy but it is the right way to lead (and to live). Maxwells discussion of change is also as appropriate today as it was in 1993. We live
in a world of rapid and continuous change and that means organizations must be flexible and agile enough to change just as quickly. In some ways, the type of change
evident over the last fifteen years almost makes long-range planning a waste of time but we know that long-range planning today should include flexibility. His discussions of conflict management
are especially useful. Conflict will occur in the organization and it is certain to occur when a change effort is initiated. Effective leaders are always change agents, which means they
