The Sermon is recorded in Mathew 5, 6, and 7. There can be little argument that the lessons in this Sermon are as relevant today as they were when Christ
delivered it. Jesus warns His people of different things throughout this Gospel. At one point, He says: ""Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheeps clothing, but
inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good
fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not
bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them." (Matthew 7:15-20; NIV, 1995; Sayre, 2008). The first phrase
is watch out, in other words, beware of these people. Dont trust them. When Jesus uses these words, we need to pay attention and take those words seriously. This is
the theme of the paragraph: be alert for false prophets. When Christ warns us of these kinds of events, He is trying to protect us because these false prophets are
very dangerous. We have evidence of this very fact in our own lifetimes. We remember the tragedies of Jim Jones and the Peoples Temple; David Koresh and the Branch
Dravidians; and Marshall Applewhite and Heavens Gate. These cults proclaimed they were following the Lord but they werent. people are deceived by the leaders charismatic manner who spouts Scripture
