Jesus entreats, "Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest."1 Jesus goes on to describe himself as "gentle and humble at heart,"
and that those who take on his "yoke" will find it "easy" and "light" (Matthew 11: 29-30). However, in chapter 25, Jesus offers a parable that has a drastically
different change in tone from his previous teachings. This parable, the parable of the silver talents, which is related in Matthew 24:14-30, as follows, (New International Version of the Bible):
14"Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them. 15To one he gave five talents[a] of money, to
another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16The man who had received the five talents went at once
