and being diagnosed with breast cancer can certainly lead a women into grief and despair. Once a woman has dealt with the reality of her cancer, she will likely
have to endure a variety of cancer treatments designed to hopefully eradicate the cancer from her body. The most drastic and altering treatment is the mastectomy in which the
entire breast or breasts are removed. A mastectomy can flood the patient with a whole new wave of fear, depression and grief. The loss of one or
both breasts is indeed a very traumatic event and one which turns a womans world upside down. For middle-aged women, this can be especially traumatic since they are still
likely to be sexually active and have many years ahead of them which will need to be faced without one or both breasts. Furthermore, if they are mothers this
