latest single includes attention to a serial killer in his song "3 AM." As if to get into the mind of the serial killer, the rap artist sings in first
person. The listener realizes that they are listening to the thoughts of a deranged man. Yet, many serial killers and even mass murderers are not much different than ordinary people.
In fact, the old joke is that all the neighbors contend that they never would have suspected an individual of being a killer once the facts come out. Ted Bundy,
for example, was married and very handsome. No one suspected him of being a disturbed killer. In exploring this topic, it is important to distinguish mass killing from serial killing.
The definition of a mass murder is when four or more individuals are killed by one or a few assailants (Siegel, 2008). To qualify as a mass murder the incident
must be carried out by one or more offenders and it usually occurs in a single time frame, which can last perhaps hours or days (Siegel, 2008). A spree killer
is like a mass murderer except the spree killer moves from place to place (Clark, 2007). Serial killers on the other hand are those that move from victim to victim,
usually plotting and planning, and where there is time in between. Another requirement for serial killing involves the number of victims, which may be as little as two or as
