That fact, along with television itself, have been both praised and vilified. On one hand communication technology such as television is thought of as the link to the development
of the "global village" and the key to understanding other people in other cultures. On the other hand, it has been and can be blamed for the violence in
American society and said to have damaged moral behavior and reasoning, while leading to the overall decline of literacy. Regardless of how it is perceived, there can be no doubt
that television and the other forms of mass media have had a tremendous influence in shaping the way people think, how they act, and even what they choose to eat
and drink. It has evolved in ways that have caused human beings themselves to evolve differently than they would have without its predominance. Citizens of the World It is
important to understand that there is most certainly a phenomenon at work in todays society that is directly related to the connection that exists between "citizens of the world" as
related to modern mass media. This process exists in the framework of more than the phenomenon of digital technology or the information age but an undying faith in the
perception of the promise of technology. Such a faith has served as the rationale behind much of the development of the so-called "Information Age" of the past several decades.
Mass media should be seen as having a significant role in that larger process of information. Perhaps the singular message of the technological process is the ability of technology to
