an indicator of time, yet it is that very traditionalist approach that melds so well to produce Conrads literary objective. Destiny was an all-consuming concept for Conrad, who routinely
utilized its direction within his works to demonstrate his preoccupation with the future. It seems almost intrinsic that Conrad propelled forward by looking back.
