Essay / Research Paper Abstract
A 10 page paper. Mary Magdalene carried the reputation of a sinful prostitute. That idea has now been shattered. Biblical scholars have reported that Mary was a faithful and important disciple. At least one has called her the apostle to the apostles. This essay begins by discussing the role of women in the time of Jesus. The writer then cites the Biblical passages that mention Mary Magdalene, demonstrating she is never referred to as a sinful woman. The writer then identifies the other Mary's in the New Testament and exactly how and when Mary Magdalene was given her negative reputation. Bibliography lists 12 sources.
