hard to reject the idea that Marxism as a whole, and the German Ideology specifically, is an ideology. It is much discussed as if it were. The fact that Marxism
is still discussed in academia, and to some extent with gleams in the eyes of professors, suggests that there is an alternate view of the reality taught to students today.
In fact, it is not presumptuous to say that grade schools are inundated with propaganda. They are taught that communism is an evil and that democracy and capitalism is not
only the way to happiness, but is also something that is best for all the people. Here, taught in that way, one could see it as something other than an
ideology. At the same time, some say that Marxism is dead. If that is true, and people despise it so much, then what thing could it be other than an
ideology? It must after all be something disturbing to another ideological position. Is Marxism dead? What does the question mean? Precisely, it seems that the question begs for a forum
on whether or not communism is a vialbe alternative to the status quo. If it is not, then one might contend it is dead, at least as a philosophy, in
the sense that it can never be implemented. While there is much lip service given to democracy and capitalism and the fact that Protestantism is aligned with capitalism, the economy
is going through a rough time. Whenever there is mass unemployment, and people are going bankrupt, there is a new attention placed on convention wisdom. In other words, is capitalism
the perfect situation? People begin to question their own ideals when they see their own money dwindling. They reach out for an ideology and some examine and embrace communism.
