paper we examine some of Marxs theories concerning alienation as they are perceived in "The Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844" and "The Communist Manifesto." Origins With industrialization
came some powerful changes in the world and even more powerful changes in the structure of work and society. Labor became something impersonal in many ways, and with that impersonal
approach came the reality that laborers were nothing more than another machine, a commodity to be used and perhaps tossed aside when no longer needed. Such conditions, and such perspectives,
will eventually lead to a laborer feeling incredibly alienated from what they do, and why they do it. This does not happen automatically, for the laborer must experience a
great deal of oppression, subtle though it may be, before true alienation sets in. The laborer must gradually be reduced as those who control all work increase in position and
wealth. The laborer becomes less and less significant until hopes and dreams diminish. When the process is complete, starting with the laborer being nothing but a commodity, the laborer is
alienated from their society and most certainly their work. Aspects The aspect of where Marx derives his theory from is quite an open ended topic. However, for the sake
of this paper, and the sake of argument, we can readily assume that he derives this theory from observation and philosophy as it relates to mankind and labor. If we
observe mankind we can note that man does not like to labor unless the result is personal or satisfying. How many times do we hear people say they cant wait
to get to work? How many times do people lie, saying they are sick, just so they dont have to labor. How often do we hear people complain about the
