causes. And, whether or not they were just, they presented to the society changes in perspective that were to have a great deal of influence on people of all races,
despite the focus on African Americans. In evaluating the two men, what they stood for, how they altered their approaches, and generally who they were, we discuss each individually, and
then address which man served to present a more understandable vision for the future of African Americans. Malcolm X Malcolm X, if nothing else, was a controversial character,
seen by many different people in many different perspectives. He was seen as an evil and hateful man by some, and as a true and righteous spiritual leader by others.
And in between these two perceptions are a myriad of other opinions as well. Essentially, with a personality as strong as Malcolm Xs, and with opinions as strong as his
were, and as changing as his opinions were, it comes as little surprise that he was a man who evoked a great deal of differing emotions and a great deal
of passion and anger in those who listened to him. Many different authors and film producers have attempted to portray Malcolm X in one light or another. We have seen
movies where he is portrayed as an incredibly righteous man with righteous ideals. We have seen him, in the forefront or in the background, as a violent and volatile man.
These, however, for the most part, have been fictionalized accounts of the man who was Malcolm X. Recently there was a documentary type production entitled "The Real Malcolm X" and
it appeared on CBS television. In this production it is clear that, in many ways, the producer(s) and director(s) tried to present Malcolm in many different lights, utilizing the narratives
