Malcolm will not soon be forgotten for his hands-on influential style, yet the memory that such characteristics evoke is that of anger and hatred, with Kings image being one of
peace and unity. While Malcolm and King sought the same objective, their approaches toward peace were quite diverse in many ways. "Malcolm criticized King and other leaders for
receiving money from and opening membership to whites. For him the civil rights leaders were nothing more than puppets controlled by the contributions of wealthy white liberals" ().
