and, subliminally affects the human psyche. Most of his slogans such as, "the global village" and "the medium is the massage" are by now so commonly used that they
are tantamount to clich?. Ascribed by some as being something of a seer-savant, most likely a genius, or simply as an influential giant on the cultural landscape, Canadas legendary
McLuhan is apparently finally garnering the critical attention he deserves. The brilliant conversationalist, and astonishingly prescient sage of the electronic age is recognized the world over for his axiomatic
pronouncements of stunning originality and clarity. Once dismissed as a charlatan/ snake-oil salesman McLuhan has achieved iconic status as a visionary who is not only capable of imagining the
future, but also uncannily adept at mapping its contours in living color. This essay discusses his core ideologies relevant to various electronic media and his overall contributions.
