1. Introduction Facebook has been a phenomenal success; in January 2011 there were more than 500 million active registered users worldwide, 50% of which will log on in any given day (Facebook, 2011). Facebook started out in a limited format targeting students, so it is unsurprising that students still continue to make up a significant proportion of the users. This social networking tool has the ability to bring together those with interests in common as well as provide a forum for existing friends and contacts to be sustained and create online communalities. The development of a Facebook group to provide support and share knowledge between students studying marketing and business may be seen as a natural development which could provide a great deal of potential benefit for the users. The written format allows for articles and views to be expressed, recorded and exchanged, for communications to be undertaken that may benefit numerous students as well as the creation of friendships to support study and mentoring to take place. However, in common with any service there is an initial requirement to attract users. The start up Facebook group has been able to attract only 400 users. This limited take up has seen the group remain relativity quiet with only a few articles and postings. In order to create a more vibrant and active group there is a requirement to increase the overall traffic, attracting the target market to the join and participate in the group. The aim of this plan is to look at the way the web traffic may be increased with a minimal marketing budget in order to generate sufficient users to ensure that there is constant traffic to create a group that is useful and create value for the members. 2.
