author whose work, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, has caused great controversy and explication. Researching this author and this particular would first involve researching the life of the author. For
example Mark Twain was born into a family that used slave and also born in a time when slavery was still strong in the South. This would be an important
research aspect concerning The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn due to the fact that the story is about this time period and is also a story about a runaway slave. This
is the most commonly explicated aspect of the novel and as such researching his life and also his views on slavery would prove beneficial. In researching the novel it
would perhaps first be advantageous to research what the reviews were of the book at the time it was published. This would give the researcher and understanding of whether or
not the book was admired, loved, hated, despised or otherwise as it reflected society. The more recent research, concerning reactions and thoughts on the novel, are perhaps more easily located
as the novel has been banned from particular places due to its use of the word "nigger." Through all this sort of research the individual would be able to come
up with some sort of thesis. Perhaps the thesis could be that Twain was only writing about his society, writing an entertaining story, with no real concern for slavery issues.
Or the individual could discover that the book was adored by all critics and there were not any issues with the language or the topic. Or the student could focus
on a thesis concerning modern day perspectives and how they are the same, or different from the perspectives when the book was written. Annotated Bibliography Fishkin, Shelley Fisher.
