"Eug?ne Louis Boudin was born in 1824 on the coast of Normandy, specifically in Honfleur, and remained faithful to his native province throughout his long life" (Wet
Canvas, 2010). He was intrigued by art when he was still a child and he went to work in a stationary store. The man who ran the shop taught him
and Boudin stayed with him until he was 18 when he opened his own shop (Wet Canvas, 2010). As a man he did not want to go into the military
and so apparently bought himself someone who took his place so that he could work on his art. His early work has
been essentially lost for the most part, but what is known about his early work indicates that it was work inspired by animals and fish and that he was largely
inspired by various Flemish and Dutch painters. He was also influenced by French artists. He found encouragement from Theodule Ribot who was his friend and then later he met Monet
who became something of his student (Wet Canvas, 2010). When he became solely immersed in Impressionism, and began painting what he is best known for (landscapes) it is noted that
