Yet, unlike most he grew up to be a rock star. But when reading his self told story, one gets a glimpse of what growing up was like for him.
In The Long Hard Road Out of Hell, Brian Warner a.k.a. Marilyn Manson tells the world what his life was like and why he is the way he is. It
may seem like a clich?. A boy has a hard life and grows up to become a rock star who rails against society. Like other bands that do not agree
with social convention or societal norms (Rage Against the Machine) or an artist whose parents had done him wrong (Eminem), this awkward little boy grew up to also tell the
world what his philosophy of life is. And while many criticize Manson for being too explicit, too obscene and too weird, Brian Warner is something of a genius.
A student writing on this subject will want to point out that the man who parades around in makeup, g-strings and womens wear is
actually not insane or homosexual. Manson actually expresses the warped version of sexuality that had come through when he went through his grandfathers basement. At least, that is what is
gleaned from his autobiographical account. Many can relate to the fact that there is always someone in the family who is interested in pornography. For Brain, it was his grandfather.
