Unfortunately, much of the increased awareness of this religion has been marred by political agenda; instead of rational or objective debate, much of the coverage Islam has gotten in the media has tended towards fear-mongering and often focused on the elements of the Muslim religion which seemed most alien to Western ideals and concepts of civilization. While theres no doubt that media presentation of Islam has been somewhat biased, some of these core differences between Islam and Western tradition might be fruitfully analyzed; chief among those differences would be Islams treatment of women, as a culture. Western media is flooded with tropes regarding the status of women in the Middle East, focusing on the comparative lack of rights experienced by women within the Islamic faith. In order to get a true conception of this matter, however, it is important to begin with an objective study of the current status of women in the context of Islam, the causal factors of this status, and what its comparison to the West ultimately signifies. This paragraph talks about the origins of female marginalization in Muslim countries.
