Marfan syndrome is a heritable disorder that involves the bodys connective tissue. "Connective tissue (including the extra-cellular matrix) is the glue and the scaffolding of the body, but is important
in many more functions as well, such as development before birth, growth after birth, cushioning of joints, and enabling passage of light through the eye" (The National Marfan Foundation, 2005).
Every single organ in the human body possesses connective tissue and as such the manifestation of Marfan syndrome can appear in many locations throughout the body. For the most part
it is generally seen in the bones and ligaments, the eyes, the heart and the blood system (The National Marfan Foundation, 2005). This particular disease got its name from
a French pediatrician who diagnoses a girl of age 5 "whose arms, legs, fingers and toes were disproportionately long and thin, whose muscle development was poor, and whose spine curved
abnormally" (The National Marfan Foundation, 2005). Physicians who followed also noted similar problems in other patients which also included eye problems. As one can see, the condition was related to
many different disorders and by the 20th century the term Marfan syndrome was applied to many individuals who seemed afflicted with one or more of these problems. Another author
