patient does not react quickly with a rescue inhaler, his or her condition could rapidly deteriorate. Diabetics can go into shock and go into a coma if they do not
get sugar quickly during a reaction. Three major tasks of adapting to chronic illness, as outlined by a student, are the prevention and management of a potential medical

being prepared is imperative. For example, some physicians will prescribe certain medication for asthma patients to prevent future episodes. However, the patient must be prepared with a plan if the
preventative measures do not work. This means keeping medication at home, and knowing when and how to use it. Knowing when to call the doctor or visit the emergency room
