employee understands and in ways that meet their needs while also achieving the organizations goals as well. A single manager will need to address each of these three individuals
in different ways. Pops Sickle Mr. Sickles life goals obviously did not include taking on the responsibilities of managing the store he
has worked at for 37 years. With everyone else out of work on one of the stores busiest days, Mr. Sickle likely has some valuable advice he can share
with the manager if the manager asks. Certainly he has seen - and worked through - the same situation before. In this
case, Fiedlers Contingency model provides an appropriate framework. The contingency model makes some allowances that situational theory does not, and also incorporates the nature of the situation in determining
which direction leadership takes within contingency theory. In this model, leadership style is described in terms of task and relationship motivation as well, and situational favorableness is determined by
three factors: 1. "Leader-member relations - Degree to which a leader is accepted and supported by the group members. 2. "Task structure - Extent to which the task is structured
and defined, with clear goals and procedures. 3. "Position power - The ability of a leader to control subordinates through reward and punishment" (Contingency Models, n.d.).
