One longer term type of pain is that of arthritis. There are several treatment, but in recent times there has been the need to change the treatment that some patients
were receiving and explain to them the reason for the changes due to the withdrawal of a single drug; Vioxx. Where patients
were apparently receiving better pain relief that on former drugs and the accompanying publicity that was given to the drug that was withdrawn. There are quite naturally concerns over any
health issue where side effects have been noticed, but when this is backed up by a multimillion law suit in which the plaintiff is successful there are also major concerns
on the part of the patients (Ginsburg, 2005, Pfister, 2003). The management of any condition need to be undertaken with care and
consideration. TO look at the way these patients cases should be managed in terms of replacement drugs to replace the withdrawn Vioxx and also consider the concerns of the patients.
There have been many drugs developed that are good for the treatment of arthritis, with over 37 million American suffering from
the condition and an increasing incidence it is apparent why there is a search for new drugs to use in dealing with this condition. One of the newer drugs that
