We first need to consider what we mean by project management. A project is usually an activity that will only take place once, hence the term project. The project will
be an activity that has a predetermined purpose and a set goal. The task itself may the be subdivided down into smaller parts that all come together to achieved the
desired end result which may be as a simple as the running of a garden fate or as complex construction project. Project
planning is required where there is a project where there is complexity with the need manage different sub tasks and to manage any risk that may be present in the
sub tasks. For larger projects the major issue will be complexity cause by the number of different sub projects which may also mean the involvement of a large number of
various parities which all need co-ordination which can be help by management and software making it an advantage to help with communication in large complex projects (McElhearn, 2004, Kerzner, 2004).
If we look at the different aspects of the projects such as lifecycle stages, the development of the process and the benefits of using software we can consider the difficulties
and management of large IT projects. There should be four main goals for any project that is undertaken, and as such this
