within the workplace is not only obvious in daily operations but it also carries over into the more personal aspects of workplace dynamics. Offices, for example, have groups of
Spanish, French- or English-speaking employees who segregate themselves according to their spoken language, a behavior that serves to create a division between and among the varied ethnic workers within an
atmosphere that requires a much greater level of interaction. Humans may all be of the same race, but the manner by which people
interact, communicate and express themselves varies by the culture from which they are taught. This diversity, while significant to a rich and wide-ranging global community, can place tremendous strain
upon relationships between/among people when certain cultural directives - some verbal, others body language - are broached. One way to illustrate the issues involving diversity communication patterns is to
examine the importance of norms, roles and the expectations every culture has where interaction is concerned. Acceptable proximity between two people, for example is a social norm that -
