are two very different types of people". Kotter (1990) looks at the differences in terms of characteristics and functional differences by defining management and leadership; the tasks undertaken by the

is seen as one of managing people, and has logistical concerns ensuring the right people are in the right place at the right time, performing the correct functions and taking
responsibly for that task. However, in the modern world, with increased employee rights, more employee awareness and the recognised need for motivation to increase productivity, we may argue that todays
managers are seeing the role of manage increased beyond that of the past, with increasingly broad ranges of duties in the way that they manage the resources and that in
