has changed the way we do our jobs and, in fact, have created different jobs and the need for many employees to learn new skills. Technology has significantly hastened a
growing global marketplace as well as a global economy. In todays world, the managers job may be more complex than at any prior time in history. One could state
conclusively that the managers job is no longer predictable. At one time, during the peak of the industrial era, managers could readily forecast the number of parts needed or when
to order certain materials and even when they would need what kind of worker. That is no longer true. Today, managers face competitive challenges they did not face in the
past. They are supervising and managing extremely diverse groups of people today. The challenges before any manager today are so vastly different, they would not even have been predicted even
fifteen years ago. Speaking before an American audience about diversity, David Kearns, the retired president of Xerox Corp. said: "American business will not be able to survive if we do
not have a large diverse workforce, because those are the demographics. The company that gets out in front of managing diversity will have a competitive edge" (Copeland, 2006). Besides the
fact that diversity is required by laws and regulations in many different countries, it makes good business sense. In fact, Prince (2005) commented that diversity "is a no-brainer" (p. 46).
Organizations that welcome talent regardless of any type of demographic such as age, gender, race or ethnicity, etc., will get the best talent thats around (Prince, 2005). Diversity leads to
