in the United States, there has been a very strong womans movement that seems to ultimately attack the gender of men. In Andre Mayers essay Man Trouble he examines some
of the issues, and essentially argues that people just need to be a bit more mature and accept one another, moving beyond gender differences or stereotypes. The following paper summarizes
and assesses Mayers essay. Many Trouble by Andre Mayer In the beginning of the essay the author notes that he is not really in a position to truly
understand what other men may be going through today because he is married and does not struggle in a womans world, so to speak. He states, "As a blissfully married
and, I like to think, reasonably well-adjusted man, I must own up to a certain obliviousness to the so-called struggles of my gender" (Mayer, 2007). But, he begins to examine
and discuss the many problems he observes in society, coming from both men and women. He illustrates how there has clearly been something of a war against men, with women
claiming men restrict and oppress them and also claiming that men need to get in touch with their feelings and learn how to not be aggressive creatures. He also illustrates
how while this is going on many men are left in the cold where their children are concerned as they are denied the right to get custody of their children
