popular group ABBA, it is gaining great attention and leaving many people entertained. The following paper presents an examination of various productions of the play, offering reviews from various critics,
and discussing the overall theme of the play. Mamma Mia "As everyone knows by now, Mamma Mia! is built around
22 songs by Benny Andersson and Bj?rn Ulvaeus of the 1970s Swedish pop group ABBA" (Stage Door Guest Review). Interestingly enough the entire production is actually based on a
book and in this the production itself was developed in rather a backward manner as most musicals do not originate from books written about original music (Stage Door Guest Review).
"What is essential is a book so ingenious that the songs seem to arise from the situations, masking the fact that the situations have been devised to fit the songs"
(Stage Door Guest Review). The plot of the production is relatively simple, yet also very entertaining. It is a story about "Donna
Sheridan, a former member of a Seventies girl group" (Stage Door Guest Review). She is now an unwed mother and is raising her child on an island. When her daughter
is grown, and ready to marry, she desires to know her father, who could be one of any of the three men that Donna performed with long ago. As can
be seen, it is a relatively timely plot, and yet very simply entertaining, with elements of comedy as well. Or as one critic indicates, "Its fun, its silly, its one
