An estimated ten to twenty percent of all males in the United
States that are actively attempting to reproduce are infertile (Goldstein, 2006, Kendirci and Hellstrom, 2006). Male infertility presents a number of concerns in regard to male health. One
of the primary concerns, of course, is the inability to reproduce. Equally as concerning, however, is the reason for the infertility. This reason can be anything ranging from
epidemiological factors to sociocultural factors. There is a growing trend of decreasing sperm counts in industrialized nations around the world. Male fertility,
of course, can be affected by a number of diverse factors. Age alone, for example, can have an impact on fertility. Recent studies have demonstrated that fertility decreases
with age (Reuters, 2003). The presence of antisperm antibodies, a presence that has been documented in 9% to 12.8% of infertile couples, play an obvious role in male infertility
(Kendirci and Hellstrom, 2006). Genetically connected conditions like variococele can result in infertility as well (Djaladat, Mehrsai, Rezazade, Djaladat and Pourmand, 2006; Goldstein, 2006).
Variocele, the presence of enlarged veins in the scrotum which cause problems in temperature regulation, can adversely impact sperm and testosterone production (Djaladat, Mehrsai,
Rezazade, Djaladat and Pourmand, 2006; Goldstein, 2006). Other conditions can result in a blockage of the male reproductive tract and although sperm is produced it cannot be released (Goldstein,
