because of the convenience of technological advancement, it is quite easy to understand how it would be virtually impossible to exist day to day without its collective contributions. One
product in particular that has been both a blessing and a curse to modern-day living is the cellular phone, a wireless telecommunications device that has all but transformed the way
in which people communicate - as well as the extent to which people have become unsafe on the roads. A University of Utah
study earlier this year illustrated this fact by showing how drivers between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five experience significantly diminished braking reflexes when engaged in conversations on their cell
phones. This reduced reaction time was likened to drivers in the sixty-five and seventy-four age bracket. According to Croal (2005), "such distracted drivers braked 18 percent more slowly
