examines one particular book, a Time-Life book, titled "The Missing Link" by Maitland Edey. The Missing Link Maitland Edey is apparently a well educated scientist who specializes in
many different works concerning the origins of mankind. His work addresses such figures as the infamous Lucy and the Piltdown man, human finds that have been surrounded by a great
deal of controversy over their authenticity and the meaning of their existence. For the most part Edey appears to be a figure who has the credentials to write such a
work as "The Missing Link." We note that this particular book is the second in a series by Time-Life called "The Emergence of Man." First and foremost, as one
author notes, the title alone implies that the missing link is an actual find, a reality that is, or will be, discussed: "Implicit in the title is the claim that
the Missing Link has in fact been found; that the Australopithecines (used in the widest possible sense of the term) are intermediate forms linking man and ape" (Lugenbeal, 2004).
According to this author, Lugenbeal (2004), even creationist can find this book convincing for its simplistic beauty at first, and then for its "reasonably accurate and current" information (Lugenbeal, 2004).
The author illustrates fossils that were found and provides accurate information and representation. "Certainly the scientific credentials of the consulting editors, Sherwood Washburn of the University of California at Berkeley
