truly change the world as he inspired many to truly trust in changing the world through non-violent means. He was a man more of the people, the human race, than
he was of a particular religion, but his work and ideals influenced many with his faith and in the faith of others. The following paper examines the work and life
of Gandhi as it influenced others. Mahatma Gandhi Gandhi was born to a Hindu family and his life prior to his passion for justice was fairly normal (Mahatma
Gandhi, 2005). He was raised and educated and employed and married (Trussell, 2005). But he began to really feel and see the injustice in his part of the world which
was India, and other parts of the world as well, when he was denied a place on a train due to his color (Trussell, 2005). The British were in powerful
control of the Indian people, people who were both Hindu and Muslim. Gandhi did not believe that such oppression was righteous and he did not believe that the injustices within
his religion were righteous either. In the Hindu religion there has always been incredibly clear lines drawn between social classes. Gandhi did not agree that people should be deemed
"untouchable" by others and he proved this by undertaking tasks, such as cleaning toilets, that were only fit for the "untouchables." In essence, he fought against oppression and injustice and
he did it through non-violent means. His life and work did make an impact on many people, and it seemed to have small impact, for a time, on his
