of "The Prince" with the perfect system of government that was essentially "evil." However, Machiavellis work was really intended to point out, symbolically and underhandedly, the result of evil that
is inherently possessed in mankind, especially as it relates to governing a country or any region. At the same time, however, he did present the reader with an understanding that
in order to use evil in government one must have a very strong and moral reason that would eventually come to a positive and moral outcome. As we can see,
even from this brief synopsis, "The Prince" and the ideals of Machiavelli are controversial and often confusing. The following paper examines what the modern day entrepreneur can learn from Machiavellis
"Prince." "The Prince" and Evil Like many philosophers and men of intellect, Machiavelli was a man who believed that, for the most part, mankind was inherently evil. He understood,
and believed, that mankind was inherently an evil creature. As such it is often argued that this is why Machiavelli often broke promises and such in order to reach his
goals, goals that he believed were noble in themselves. He also believed that it was very bad for a leader to be hated by his people, and as such should
perhaps never let on that they were manipulating people and lying to them. With such a simple illustration at hand, and understanding that this is only a small portion
of the views one could have concerning "The Prince," we see that, from this perspective, Machiavelli obviously justified his use of evil through the inherent nature of man. If he
truly believed that mankind was evil by nature then it would make sense that a large portion of his work would focus on how to go about ruling with a
