in Salzburg, and while many of his formative years were spent in Vienna, it was actually in Prague-the capital of what was then called Bohemia-that many of Mozarts famous pieces
were performed and composed. Prague residents accepted Mozart in a way in which their counterparts never would have done. Even to this day, citizens of Prague proudly claimed their city
to be "Mozarts town" (Anonymous, 1994). As a result, Prague officials continue to work hard to keep Mozarts spirit a live in their city.
While Prague residents and toward Mozart and his music, the feeling was very mutual. In many ways, Mozart considered his times in Prague as among the happiest periods
in his adult life (The Mozart Cafe, 2002). It was in Prague, that Mozart was treated with approval and respect unlike in the other cities including Vienna and Salzburg (The
Mozart Cafe, 2002). Because of his liking for Prague and because of the residents affection for Mozarts music, Prague was were Mozart arguably came up with some of his best
compositions. While Prague had a great influence on Mozart, Mozart also ended up having a great influence on Prague. In a
way, Mozart helped crystallize and clarify the performing arts for the residents of this city. The purpose of this paper will be to examine both Mozarts influence on Prague, and
