Any kind of team-building, morale-building, resentment-declining efforts need to start from the top - leadership support is essential. A leadership model taking into
account group and team development would be appropriate, which would leave out any kind of autocratic or classical leadership model. A participative model (or even a transformational leadership model) would
be effective in this case. Also important is Bruce Tuckman and his four stages of group development. Tuckman, an educational psychologist, noted that
groups undergo four stages to experience maximum effectiveness (Famous models, 2001). Tuckman believed that the stages of forming, storming, norming and performing are required for a group to obtain its
goals (Famous models, 2001). During the "forming" stage, initial behavior by group members is driven by a wish to avoid conflict, meaning
any kind of serious discussion or feelings are avoided while individuals gather information about one another (Famous models, 2001). Storming marks the end of the honeymoon period, as individuals stop
being nice to each other and begin confronting one another about silly or serious issues (Famous models, 2001). Norming is when group members pull out of conflicts, get them resolved
and set up responsibilities - and get better at listening to one another (Famous models, 2001). Finally by the performing stage, group
members trust one another (even if they dont agree with each other), work well together, understand that responsibilities change according to need (Famous models, 2001). Energy is directed toward getting
