in much of the industrialized countries, who seem to view the abortion issue in terms of personal and private rights more than a citing of religious rights, whereas in other
less mechanized countries, the issue is a religious and traditional belief that prohibits a woman from this procedure. However, just because a society has outlawed or condemned the action, does
not mean that the procedure is not performed. Unfortunately, in many countries, England included, there are still back alley abortions that rarely turn out for anyones best interest. Could it
be possible that health care options could include the assistance of a mid-wife, either in the delivery of a child, or in the post operative care of a woman who
has miscarried, or has chosen abortion as an alternative? The very thought of a mid-wife helping in some type of procedure of this measure is in hot contention right now,
and seems to boil continuously in Europe and North America. When looked at on a global scale the problem of unplanned pregnancies takes on greater proportions. In Colombia, the Dominican
Republic and Mexico, only about half of all pregnancies ended in wanted births(Contemporary Womens Issues 1994). However, in these countries abortion is not a usual procedure and is even more
unsafe by those who practice the procedure unskilled and unprepared for complications should they arise. So why do women still continue to battle the risks and take a chance on
abortions? Women were surveyed in these underdeveloped countries and asked what factors led them to an early inducement. Those women responded saying that they could not afford to raise a
child because either she or her significant other are poor, or they are out of work or she is a student(Contemporary Womens Issues 1994). Others mentioned relationships that had gone
