The four styles of creative intelligence are intuition, intelligence, imagination and innovation. How do these apply to,
or influence, organizational decision making? Decision making involves more than simply applying tried-and-tested formulas or relying on past experiences (Kourdi, 2006). Many times, decisions are personal and intuitive - some
decisions require some kind of originality and flair; which many times is obtained through brainstorming methods (Kourdi, 2006). Leaders in organizations who apply
the varying forms of creative intelligence into the decision-making procedures end up with organizations that are typically growth, or learning, organizations. This is because such leaders understand that organizations can,
and should, be flexible. This is not to suggest that organizational leaders go outside of the frameworks under which the organizations are formed. Rather, these leaders work within the frameworks,
applying the various styles of creative intelligence that end up leading to new ways of looking at old things. One good example of
this is the ubiquitous "sticky note." We see these everywhere, and theyve become an important part of paperwork. But the original sticky note was actually a mistake - a 3M
researcher in studying various types of adhesives found this one to be somewhat weak on the bonding side. But rather than throwing it away, this researcher (and 3Ms leaders) opened
his mind to other possibilities for this adhesive, realizing that it would be ideal for temporary notes. This type of creative intelligence led to the sticky notes and its many
